Income Generation Project
Social Welfare & Rural Development Society (SWRDS) is a 33-year-old organization working for poor and rural people of Ghatal, West Medinipur. We have stretched our wings in varied sectors of Income Generation. Here are some of the initiatives we have taken as an NGO. We organize Training-cum-Production based programs for the social welfare of local poor and needy people.
Handloom Weaving
Handloom weaving is the most important income-generating project for the poor women of the locality. The beneficiaries were offered training from the organization and they started weaving for their self-employment. This is the way to have a better life and maintain a superior lifestyle. The society helped them in the marketing of their product. The beneficiaries do their work under the able leadership of the SHGs. Originally it was a CAPART assisted project.
Activities Of Self Help Groups
The organization has been running SHGs in the locality. To make it more active and popular we often organize awareness programs to aware women of the need for it. These programs are specially designed so the women members could earn by themselves and be self –reliant. They can also enjoy the various help offered by the govt.esp on the financial front and marketing of their products. The organization also helped them in getting loans from different financial institutions.
